The feature is scheduled to start rolling out globally in February 2026 for standard multi-tenant environments on the web platform. However, Microsoft has not yet specified if this new capability will necessitate extra licensing or be included with current Teams subscriptions.
Since the beginning of the year, Microsoft has already announced that Teams will alert users when they send or receive private messages with links identified as malicious, and the company has been focused on strengthening Teams’ defense against harmful URLs and file types. The company is also implementing new Teams features that will enable users to report messages incorrectly flagged as security threats and automatically prevent screen-capture attempts during meetings. Additionally, Microsoft intends to incorporate a new call handler to accelerate the Teams desktop client, which will improve launch times and overall performance on Windows 11 systems.
